  1. I think it's like anything creative you have to leave it when it ain't happening mate. I've had it with my animation loads of times. I am currently going through it at the minute with my visual work and the best thing to do is leave it alone, it'll come back. I am concentrating a lot more on my cutting and music stuff so I have other creative avenues which is good for me. But does it ask the question where is all the scratching shit going anyway. Once you've got the skills, which you definately have! Were do you go then. Everybody is sounding the same ish. learning the technique like I am is the fun bit, but where do you want to take it? You need some fire in your belly to want to take it anywhere, so let it rest mate. Go digging for tunes, digging for shit inspires me but shit you don't hear much you know weird stuff that seems like it could never work, if you get it working that will inspire you. Watch a Woody vid or Pfel they are inspiring cause they don't sound like Q bert or Dstyles. They inspire me with there simplicity and musicality. It'll be alreet divv'nt worry yorsel mate. sorry for the ramble.

props to you loop for the 2 3rd placings. I went to the leeds heat as a spectator and saw a least four of the people were over 35 if not close to it. Going through the heats there seems to be a lot on the other side of 30. I'm 32 and find it pretty inspiring that you guys are doing it , I thought battling would be restricted in some way by age but obviously not. I thought I had wasted the last 15 years just mixing and playing out and came to scratching to over the last 14 months. Maybe I could enter before I'm 35. quality! again props to you!

That made me laugh, I won't be putting my cuts up for a while, I ain't up for any virtual bitchslapping. The video's I have worked on are'nt all that, the one people will probably know is the DB boulevard tune point of view. I worked on this with 3 other guys mike, jez and ant ( I ain't taking all the credit for that one) I did 40 seconds of animtion for that. some of it is on the reel, the cardboard girl if your not aware of it. It was cool as it got a lot of airplay and was on the MTV music awards it may have won an award, not sure but it was cool to see it on the huge screens at that event and they used the clips I animated. Thanks for taking alook at it and for the kind words. later

To introducce myself thought I would put up my animation work for you to take a look at. It's all tv work for the UK up to about 5 months ago all the work is done by me. I started as a traditional 2d animator but have had to adjust with the trend and I mainly do CG stuff now I mainly do character work as thats what I specialise in. hope you enjoy it's 15 meg by the way so a download may be better. later http://www.darrenoakes.co.uk/animREEL_small.wmv
  9. I was planning to use live mainly as a backup to the tables really with little breaks and stuff. I hav'nt played with it enough really to have a good idea of it's use's but the tables are the predominant mixing tool for me and it means I can scratch and juggle whilst breaks are coming from live. I used to do this with a drum machine and 3 tables a while ago and it worked pretty well. I need a scratch mixer as I am predominatly a scratch Dj I have a vestax 06 at the moment so I thought the nuo 4 was a capeable scratch mixer and the midi thing is a bonus for me to experiment with. so how you lot using live then?
  10. thanks for the replys, I will be using a desktop by the way, I kind of thought I would need the audiophile just needed to confirm it. thanks SoCal I'll try that. cheers
  11. new to the forum came over from coldkut forum. starting to delve more into digital to compliment my tables. Just wanted to know if I buy a nuo 4 which I am hoping will be soon do I need a usb interface such as an audiophile to use ableton on 2 channels of the mixer I know the nuo 4 is cabable of interfacing with ableton without the audiophile but apparrently you cant monitor the ableton stuff without a second soundcard. Will the audiphile F%$k everything up I need to know so I can work out what I will be spending. any answers are greatly appreciated cheers.
