  1. The Ox Flare is one of my new favourite flare techniques and will challenge your control over tears. Here I demonstrate the technique at 80 BPM over 5 different speeds as well as showing what it can sound like fast with sharper tears and morphed into a 5 beat cross rhythm variation. This combo has heaps of rhythmic potential and can be performed in more ways than demonstrated. Support my tutorial projects here and receive extra learning material! https://www.patreon.com/djchile

  2. I don't think you need to relearn anything as it looks like you're pinching/pincering correctly and that is pretty much the standard for 2 click flare techniques. You can also twiddle them and anyone that says thats cheatings just creating boundaries where there arent any - Dee Swift mainly twiddled 2 clickers so enough said really. It looks like you could do with using less energy with your thumb motion though - you dont need to expend so much force with such an overt motion and it may cause issues with your thumb down the line - That is just my take though and there are people that do move the thumb a lot like that. Im much more lazy energy wise on the thumb motion as it is essentially just acting as a bouncy wall. You can get the same two clicks from lighter movement. I guess its the difference between pushing heavily into a light switch to turn it on, or using just enough force to perform the same action. Different boats for different goats though!

  3. first thing done in Cubase in a while. I remember being shit at bass so thought I'd try make a bass heavy track minimal track. Dunno what genre it is but its all TB 303 emulators so I guess its some sort of 130 bpm acid.

  4. Here's a way to do it in literally seconds with zero re-encoding: - 1. Download ffmpeg essentials here: - https://www.gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds/ffmpeg-git-essentials.7z 2. Create a new folder on your desktop - just leave it named as "New folder". Rename your video file to myvideo.mkv and place it in the new folder. Open the ffmpeg archive you downloaded and extract ffmpeg.exe from the bin folder to the new folder you created on your desktop. You should now have a folder called "New folder" on your desktop and in it is your video file (renamed to myvideo.mkv) and ffmpeg.exe. 3. Open a command prompt window and type or copy and paste the following 2 commands, pressing enter after each one: - cd desktop\New folder ffmpeg -i myvideo.mkv -vcodec copy -acodec copy myvideo.mp4 After a few seconds the process should be complete and you'll have an MP4 version of your video in the folder called myvideo.mp4.

  5. First of all, welcome aboard. Second, I'm not exactly sure I understand your question, but I'll take a stab at it. Using your thumb makes it a flare, or double click flare (orbit). However, if you use your fingers (e.g. for instance a two click crab), it's a twiddle. I do 'em both ways 'cause it yields two different sounds, but I prefer the thumb. Prolly the best person on here to chime in on this though is @chile.

  9. Sup everyone! I’m new here and pretty much a beginner at scratching. I learnt a few basics many moons ago (chirps, 1 click flares etc) and never really developed on them. Sold my decks 10 years ago and just got them back after travelling etc. I’m now working on my two click flares. With the wealth of videos online, i’ve seen people do them by tapping/transforming the fader on to make the clicks? I taught myself to click the fader off with my thumb (after watching Qbert DIY vol 1 do it hamster). Video of me doing it below: Do I go back and learn them all over again? From what I understand the tap/transform technique is relatively transferable to boomerangs etc, just worried my muscle memory is stuck doing them the thumb way at a higher tempo! Any help, feedback or pointers would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

  10. Easy man, Starting to feel like I have a journey ahead of me, but up for the techniques haha. What Qbert says defo makes sense! With hamster, you just click the fader off twice with your fingers for 3 sounds. I’ve almost been doing a similar thing but with my thumb in normal mode. I watched the Qbert DIY aaages ago and self taught myself to do it similarly but in reverse. I’m now doing it this way: 1st sound - Pushing record to start. pushing fader off with my thumb (click) 2nd sound - stabbing sound back on holding fader with thumb and tapping fingers (click) 3rd sound - tapping the fader open with fingers back for end of sound. (this is so hard to type and explain haha!) I’m now getting way better sounds and it seems to apply to boomerangs, i’m just changing my hand movement. Cheers for the guidance though - it’ll come good in the end 🤞🏻

  11. Sup man! Glad you're back at it! I'm far from the best on the board (so take with a grain of salt) but from what I recall, Qbert said it's much faster and more precise to do flares hamster style (with your fingers). I scratch normal so can't give you much direct advice. And maybe i'm misunderstanding the question. @JHouse oh wow I never made that connection about twiddles vs 2-click flares. Makes sense. I thought it was more about if you start/end open or closed.

  12. Haha! I only know how to do it cos at some point I needed to do the same thing as you, and this was easily the best option I found. MKV and MP4 are containers, so all it's doing is switching from one to the other while retaining the original audio and video codecs, which is why it works so quickly and doesn't lead to any quality loss.

  14. Dude, you really make me want to start skratching again. I have the odd cut every once and a while, but haven't been dedicated to it in a long minute. Namely 'cause my turntables are kinda fucked at the moment, but mainly 'cause I've been really focused on the keys for the last two years. Still though, when I see ish this this, I want to get my decks fixed and start cutting. Anyways, props man — well executed.

  15. Respek chile, always like your meticulous mastery of techniques. Makes me appreciate that I never really understood or practiced scratching properly. Subscribed to your Patreon, with a strange username.

  17. This looks great! It's in early access at the moment on Steam, and it's apparently a bit rough around the edges, but I have no doubt it'll be really good when it's finished. It's from the same devs that made the Ori games. What I really like is that it has drop-in/drop-out online co-op for up to 4 people, so you can play through the game with friends or go solo. No release date has been set for the full launch.

  19. back to splatoon. one of the best things about doing matches on the wiiU is the squid mini game that you play on the hand held while waiting to set up a match. i wish i got some matches in before they took the server down.

Got it at the goodwill. under $100 and it came with red dead and halo reach. i dont play the xboxes that much. but i dont play anything that much anymore.

  22. The Xbox 360 marketplace shuts down on June 29th too. You'll still be able to buy backwards compatible Xbox 360 and OG Xbox games via the regular MS Store, but you'll no longer be able to buy digital Xbox 360 games that are not backwards compatible. You will be able to re-download stuff you've already bought.

  24. Did you see Apple apparently filed a patent modifying AirPods with electrodes that can read you mind. There have been some advancement in this type of tech and it's definitely not ready for prime time but they are getting out in front of it nonetheless.

  25. I posted this in the thread earlier, but I'll post it again. This guy was a pro player in the Overwatch League, so he's certainly good at video games. Check out how hard he finds beating this boss (she appears about 2 minutes in): - There are definitely times when I like games to be challenging, but this is just too much for me.

  26. free to download here - Patreon seems to compress the image which degrades the quality so make sure to expand the image then right click and select open image in a new tab then right click to save file from that image otherwise it comes out all pixelated - https://www.patreon.com/djchile

  28. Ah, nice one man! You should get a new freestyle scratch video out there! My health has been shit to be honest; slowly declining for years now, no matter what I try and do to make it better. I haven't used my decks in a loooong time; maybe a decade. Time just flies though - the last completed mix I made was 11 years ago, but it doesn't seem like that at all.
