  1. Hi everyone, finally got round to creating an account so I could show my platter mod I made after seeing people bring it up again. I was looking at the flesh one platter bars but they cost a lot to buy and then send to the U.K so I was considering making the ring type solution but I didn't like the idea of the two faces rubbing against each other. Luckily I remembered this thread and got to trawling through, can't renember who actually posted it but someone mentioned that the issue was with the spindle and its moulding from factory (thank you whoever that was!) After I kicked myself for not spotting the flaw earlier I knocked up a disc at work, it works pretty good, doesn't remove every last bit of wobble but it's far more stable and its a no friction solution. Of course, I can't work out how to add pictures to this post on my phone so I'll have to post them when I get home from work this evening. Watch this space...

  2. It's hard to tell only hearing one side of the story. I never really knew the whole back story on Disk. I get the impression he kind of helped dudes along but their skills eventually surpassed his and eventually he got left out. The music industry can be tough like that, especially when groups get successful (see the early drummer for the Foo Fighters). Flare has always been ill as hell on the cut but maybe has had some personal issues, etc. I honestly don't necessarily remember Babu personally making claims about inventing the term "turntablist" but I know he's been credited with it for YEARS. I find it hard to hate on any of these dudes unless they owe me money or product. Then it's like "oh hell knaw, fuck that guy".

  3. Ok, back home and just taken some pics, the mod isn't a new platter (yet), more a stiffener for the standard platter, I do plan to make a bespoke platter with decent ball bearings but I don't have the time at the moment, also a little worried about it being too heavy? I may try to improve the disc I made by adding a small lip at the bottom to help keep the belt on when replacing the platter, I made a couple of these from some scrap aluminium at work so didn't have much choice on the diameter. It has a tapered hole in the centre to grip the spindle surround and it fits tight in the part the belt fits round. The holes make it a little lighter (weighs around 80 grams I think) and they help when removing it. Interestingly, the disc needed to be a fraction larger for my pt01 scratch compared to the original pt01, maybe a manufacturing defect or the plastic mold getting worn out over time, it was only 0.1mm larger but it meant the first disc I made didn't fit the scratch. Anyway, it works pretty good! ill post a vid when I can get some way to hold my phone steady while doing scribbles Oh and thanks to abstrk.theories for the photo bucket tip!

  4. I think nobody at all cares, until the knob is out and people get to play with it.

  5. Quite pleased how this turned out, especially chuffed Jimmy Penguin stuck it on the CSG YT channel From an internet friendly/accessible perspective I normally go in to making these with the mindset of keep it as short as pos but the footage dictated longer. After watching it a few times (pre upload) with non dj mates the feedback went along the lines of "that went really quickly" & "we're coming to Ireland for next years CSG". So with that in mind Im definitely considering a longer edit in the future. Heres last years effort if you haven't seen it yet, went for a diary approach due to limited iPhone memory. Also gotta add it was mad fun playing at the event thats been a source of so much inspiration over the years, the support/reaction from the immense Bierhaus crowd was nuts

  6. Really dope footage, everyone was killing it. Also really well put together Dubba, seems every video you edit together gets better and better Got to make CSG one year.

  7. It's not so much overall size as much as girth IMO... When the Z2 launched with a reasonably fat knob quite a lot of guys I like hang out with moaned about the fader as a whole but when I swapped the original knob for a more slender Inno one, many though the whole fader had been upgraded. But in reality it was just the feeling of a more slender knob that they preferred.

  11. Nice Paul! Awesome vid! But it can never accurately present what actually happened in Galway this year.

  13. Why so defensive ? The fact that he was making a joke about big knobs was actually quite funny The fact that you didn't get it was understandable if you are not native english speaker The fact that you acted butt hurt kind of was really hilarious, yeah i know, i'm an asshole.
