  3. This wasn't the record I was gonna do, but I picked this up a couple of weeks back and when I gave it a proper listen today, it seemed pretty good for a few different samples. Plus, it's a bit of any obscure LP that will probably be (mostly) new to people. So, continuing the long running theme of 'digging for samples cliches' here's a 70s Italian Cop movie soundtrack by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. It's a 1974 Italian film and no doubt has an Italian title too, but the soundtrack was issued in France so here it's called La Police Au Service Du Citoyen. Like previous records there are some shit songs, buffered by some good intros and outros, interludes with nice instrumentation and even a drum break. Here's the wavs https://www.dropbox.com/s/0p5ifvcif6hp3xc/la%20police%20au%20service%20du%20citoyen.zip?dl=0 As ever, the only rule is that you have to sample at least one sound from the audio files provided above. You can add any other sounds, samples, instruments, cuts, vocals, etc. The final result can be any style or genre you like. Post up your entries in the comments of this thread. Deadline for entries will be Monday, April the 25th. After that we'll have public vote for a week and then Doob and Fayc will have an argument for a further week after that.

  5. In this guy's case, the latter. He thinks that 45 RPM makes it easier to make adjustments, because at 33⅓, if you gave a record a small nudge it makes more of a difference than it would if the record was playing at 45. I disagree that that makes 45 better though. Mind you, the guy just said to me that 99% of 12" records sold to DJs play at 45, so I'm not sure he knows WTF he's talking about.

  7. Got a chance to try it last night with Jesse Dean himself and it definitely feels how a crossfader should feel with 2 rails. It isn't optical or magnetic and still has strips of contact, but is copper instead of carbon. The copper strips have a protective coating that I think protects from oxidation. Very light feel and cut is sharp. I'd have to have one for at least a week to give it a stamp of approval, but from what I tried yesterday, it seems like a solid portable fader.

  9. Had an idea and it worked. 2 X raiden fader = a rubbish cross fader and 2 x portable turntable Here's the video http://www.pikore.com/m/1216423897020279677_2056728113 heres a pic http://imgur.com/xI5J7g8 but Check out my Instagram account @ethanoldj for a video It's a bit awkward. need to make something to hold the two faders together if possible. just for fun.

  10. some highlights of the deadliest most brutal high-steaks battle of the year: no footage of the mythical final between Djackulate and Jimmy Penguin, you'll just have to imagine the most awesome thing you could possibly do with no beat and no earth cable, then triple the awesomeness of what you just imagined
