Guest Deeswift
.:. XP FOLDER VIEW FIX .:. Sometimes Windows XP can forget it's folder view settings and be a real pain in the neck! If you find that you're constantly having to switch views, for example, if you set a folder full of mp3's to display as a list but every time you exit and come back to the folder it's changed to tiles, thumbnails, etc, the reason could well be this: Windows XP by default is only set to remember the view settings for 400 folders. After that, it overwrites the settings of the oldest folders. You can safely increase the amount of folder views to be remembered to around 8,000. Download the little file below. This is a small, 12kb .exe which allows you to change the amount of folder views (up to 8,000). I set mine to 7777 because it's a nice number DOWNLOAD Download, then double-click the and set the amount of folder views to be remembered. Restart your PC, then go to any folder and switch to any desired view. Exit the folder, then go back. It should now be as you left it. Hopefully. If it doesn't work, it's because Windows XP is stupid!
Guest Deeswift
.:. REMOVE "SHARED DOCUMENTS" .:. Remove the Shared Documents folder from My Computer. This can be done with Tweak UI or you can use these tiny .reg files here: DOWNLOAD Inside the zip there are 2 files: One of them removes the Shared Documents folder, and the other restores it. Double click and add the .reg file to your registry. Reboot for changes to take effect.
Guest Deeswift
I didn't realize Microsoft were offering PowerToys again. They stopped for quite some time, but it seems as though they are supporting them again. Link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx For anyone who doesn't know, these are little add-on programs for XP. You should at least get Tweak UI, if you haven't already, it's a decent tweaking tool which does quite a few nice things.
