  1. The full DVS signal is created from the clamp and spindle being connected, but you could use needles with control records if you didn't want to use the clamp and you don't need to use it at all for regular vinyl The tension control on the clamp is for more controlling feel/resistance, and it can really help with playing with dished records or for extra resistance when scratching or doing spinbacks, I like having it on a more resistant setting as I'm quite heavy handed
  2. Hey guys, long time! I did the product launch video demo for these and a few other bits on my socials, and this mix recently: I think Mojax did a great review of them: In terms of features, the clamp provides excellent tracking in serato and having the midi pads set to a feature like stems is really handy, especially when combined with a dvs mixer like a S9/11 with its pads set to cues, for example
  3. Hey gang, hope everyone's well. I have a new EP out today on vinyl (first time woopwoop!) , digital and streaming with my pal Mike: https://arcaneandjon1st.bandcamp.com/album/bloodstone-ep more stores, streaming links etc here: https://album.link/bloodstone Big love, Jon
  4. I use Distrokid for distribution to streaming services for my independent releases and then sell via bandcamp, and try to push that on my socials as the main place to buy music from my various projects - you can build up a mailing list with bandcamp too so people who have bought your music before can get notifications when you release new projects etc. I would cast as wide a net as possible with the different platforms just so you're present on them (e.g. still having your tracks on Tidal if you personally only use Spotify etc).
  5. Hi all! The EP with Shield is out now: https://jon1standshield.bandcamp.com/album/focus
  6. Hey gang! Been a minute! I thought I'd share some new production projects I have on the way Shield and I have a new 6 track EP out on the 19th May: https://jon1standshield.bandcamp.com/album/focus I have a track with Fixate on a new charity compilation - the vibe we were going for was 80s hiphop meets modern jungle/beats production: and, finally, I've contributed to an EP with Stick In The Wheel, a folk band from London (Ian from the band is also part of the group GOALS I make beats with), alongside Nabihah Iqbal and Olugbenga Adelekan from the band Metronomy. This will be out on the 27th May: https://stickinthewheel.bandcamp.com/album/perspectives-on-tradition
  7. I wasn't naturally good at scratching, and was a very slow learner - but scratching was also my first instrument, so I was learning about rhythm, timing, basic music theory at the same time as trying to work out the hand coordination and muscle memory etc. I was really disciplined at putting the hours in and having lots of great feedback from people with experience here and on other forums was so useful. While I wasn't naturally good at scratching, I think by going through that learning experience, I'm able to be more natural as a learner of other musical things or other creative pursuits, but I'm def a put in the hours and see results sort of person rather than being instantly great at something
  8. bleurgh - i wrote a long reply and accidently hit 'back' on my browser - I think everyone learns at different speeds but consistency of showing up to practice, having genuine enthusiasm to learn, self awareness/understanding of where you're at and what to learn next or some guidance to point you in the right direction is the key.
  9. Haha I love that drain unblocking guy 😄
