danswift Posted May 20, 2016 Share Posted May 20, 2016 Me and my brothers lived for the John Peel radio show on the BBC back in the dayhis broadcasts were an oasis of beauty in an ocean of 80s shiny happy pop stupidity like the kind that they showed on Top of the Pops3 hairdressers with a kazoo endlessly singing "Dont You Want Me Baby" to the sound of satans very own tapeloop and fucking Midge Ure and UltravoxPeel had the balls to play bands like Crass and DC punk bands such as Bad Brains and Flipper bands who were fucking important shit to myself as a youthPeel played music that made you actually think about life and the world in generalespecially in the so called "Me Me Me" generation that the 80s wasI could never understand why he rated The Fall so highly though tbh.
