DJ Rock Well
Yeah, I was surprised that the A and VCA models do have quite a few differences on the inside... The VCA's almost look like they were assembled by somebody who at least gave half a shit.
Guest Symatic
did anyone ever figure out the correct PSU for the 06 VCA? i'm confused....... but I have one in need of some lovely warm electricity
DJ Rock Well
I'm pretty sure it 14v rather than the A's 15v.
Guest rasteri
The ProA needs 15v DC, the VCA needs 14v AC. I can't find anyone selling 14v AC power supplies, but farnell and RS sell 15v ones that'll be fine.
Guest Symatic
But the size of the plug is a standard one yeah?
DJ Rock Well
Yep, both the same!
Guest Symatic
well... so far i've tried a bunch of PSU's, but the PMC 06 VCA definately has a funny sized socket. i think it's 6.3mm outside measurement and 3mm pin measurement
Deft
I take this as additional evidence that Vestax are / were wankers.
Guest rasteri
Weeeeeird I guess you gotta put a new plug on it, Mouser sells 3mm plugs, although shipping will be £12: http://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Schurter/48401220/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv1TUPJeFpwbgwCFVleXAFihtlEfVKH6w0%3D
Guest Symatic
so i got this one http://cpc.farnell.com/ideal-power/25hk-ip18-a15/psu-desktop-plug-in-18w-15v/dp/PW02040 and it has the right connector the green one. I just wanna be sure it's AC output not DC, or doesnt it matter? the 06 Pro VCA takes AC......
Guest rasteri
I just wanna be sure it's AC output not DC, or doesnt it matter? the 06 Pro VCA takes AC...... That'll likely be a switched DC supply, it's too small to have a transformer in it. That won't work for a VCA, but will be fine for a ProA. so I just found out that despite being called an "AC-14" most of the power supplies that came with the VCA series were actually 12V AC. I'm guessing this is to account for differences in regional mains supplies (can be anything from 210-240 across europe). This'll do ya : http://uk.farnell.com/ideal-power/77db-06-12m/adaptor-uk-12v-0-5a-multiplg/dp/2112032
Guest Symatic
dammit anyone wanna buy a PMC 06 PRO A power supply? the output current on that one is only 500 mA, does that matter?
Guest Symatic
and theyre out of stock... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Guest Symatic
http://uk.farnell.com/ideal-power/77db-10-15m/power-supply-ac-ac-11-5w-15v-0/dp/2368009 this one looks promising but the output current is 670mA..... i dunno if that s ok for the vestax as no one ever mentions it in any other threads about this... god dammit vestax! Guest Symatic
so i found an actual vestax one for 35 bucks form Germany....... fucked up. i hope they don't cancel the order with a "sorry we don't actually have that" email ....... http://www.recordcase.de/en/Vestax+Adapter+AC-14+UK.htm
Guest rasteri
670mA will be fine. I don't expect the VCA will pull any more than a couple hundred mA anyway.
