Is there effect in Ableton similar to the roll effect on an mpc so I can trigger a stutter/roll on the fly? I poked around but havent found anything exactly like what I am looking for.

the short answer is your need to use the arpeggiator if triggering midi or the beat-repeat if using straight audio without the sampler.
the long answer is... very long
hope that helps

If it's just a clip which you want retriggering you just need to set the launch mode to repeat and set the quantize setting to the speed you want it to loop at.
