Project Scorpio (Xbox One successor) specs revealed

They have Forza 6 running on it at native 4K at 60 FPS while only using about 60% of the console's power, and that's without any real optimisation as they ported it over in 2 days.

It features system-wide downsampling for games that render above 1080p, so if you have a 1080p TV you'll still see improvements in image quality.

Existing Xbox One games that use dynamic resolutions should all render at a constant 1080p and there should no longer be any issue with torn frames or fluctuating framerates. It will play all of the games that an existing Xbox One can play, including backwards compatible 360 games, and all Xbox One peripherals will work with it.

Game DVR gets a considerable boost. Currently on an Xbox One you can record game clips at 720p at 30 FPS and they're pretty heavily compressed. With Scorpio you will be able to capture clips at 4K at 60FPS and in HDR and it uses the HEVC codec so clips will look WAY better than ones captured on an Xbox One.

As consoles can better leverage the hardware to gain more performance compared to PCs, this will supposedly be around the equivalent of a high end gaming PC with a GTX 1070.

The only downside so far for me is that, like the Xbox One S, it has no Kinect port. Instead you can use an adapter to hook up a Kinect to a USB port, which wouldn't be a problem if it was a simple adapter, but it's an abomination that requires its own power supply. Also, while you can use an external drive to expand the storage, it would be nice if you could also easily swap out the internal, which would enable you to pop an SSD in there if you wanted to - something you can easily do with a PS4 or PS4 Pro.

Price and the release date are yet to be announced.
