  1. PMPO= Pure Marketing Propeganda Output. its meant to make a crap speaker look good - until you turn it up and smoke starts coming out of it.
  2. yo man...I'll sell you my Numark CM-1000 mixer for $200...it's 4 channel with fader curve and all that good stuff, it'd be perfect for what you need it for...it's in perfect condition hit me up with a messege if you're interested <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm in uni right now, and may have a residency in a club nearby. I should be able to earn/get enough to get a tascam x-17 (which I really want and another CDJ-100, costing me about $850) I'm really looking foward to the club calling me back, as this would be my first club gig, hope it pays well though. If not, my disbursements (overpayment for costs) from uni should pay that.
  3. X-Ecutioners - Space Invader (has some good skratches in it, going to buy full album soon (clepto'd online and love the track) I now want to buy the full album from what i saw on 'jimmy kimmel live' one night in August. They performed the track 'space invader' and i recorded the segment' cause i happened to like some of the x's previous tracks.

  5. to gabriel: try hitting up a couple of labels nearby, they might get you signed w/them. My friend ryan gaddy (whose stage name is TRU-G and performs hip-hop) got signed w/ Universal Records in LA. And he is from Calhan, CO. Calhan is a hick town out on the plains
  6. sometimes mate, but i jus dunnow, one of my friends came up with it and it just stuck...
  7. If you have an balenced PA amp or are connecting to a studio console, that's where XLRs are better - They're balanced, which cuts down on noise. I usually use a balanced connection when recording/playing out. Otherwise, just use the RCA outs. the cables are about the same over here. Monster cable makes a good XLR-TRS cable for $20.00 american. Pro Sound & Stage Lighting will ship to foreign addresses. find them at: www.pssl.com/ I hope this can help. If not, you can build your own from parts at Radioshack. you'll need 2 XLR Female, 2 RDA or 2 1/4" plugs and whatever length of cable you need. Get microphone cable if possible. Or get two prebuilt mic cables. Cut off the male XLRs and replace them with RCA or 1/4" plugs. wire the red wire to the tip of the new plug. white to the sleeveand the bare/green/ground to the sleeve. (if unbalenced at the amp end) or xlr1 to sleeve of TRS, xlr 2 to the tip and xlr 3 t othe ring of the TRS (1/4") plug
  8. The Tascams DO have the guts of the Eclers. The XS-4 is one of the Tascam models that have all Ecler PC-Boards and faders.
  9. Your'e right - It's the RIAA curve. NEVER feed line level through a phono input. It may blow the preamp stage on that mixer's channel, making a useless pile of fried parts from your 200.00 (or higher) mixer.
  10. Houston - I Like That Nelly - Hot in Herre 50 Cent - In Da Club Purchesed @ Twist & Shout Underground [Alameda & Logan Ave. in Lo-Do, Denver, CO 80211 USA 1-303-777-6252 They'll ship anywhere in the USA. order online @ www.twistandshout.com Ive been using them for a while since they seem to get records in a couple days faster than my local shop, Independent Records in Colorado Springs, CO. They also have some of the old-skool sh*t in the store & online, too. They also sell DJ gear dirt cheap at the store only. Tghey have the Numark "handytrax" type TTs online, Sicmatz too. I highly reccomend them if you live in the US and want someone diferent for your wax, someone other than turntable lab or dance records. to go through.
  11. I love breaks. I'm diong a school dance in a few days, on Saturday to be exact. The school paid me $200.00 today, so I'm debating on getting a Radio Shack 4-channel mixer for 106.00 (including taxes). Its catalog #32-3008. its got three band roteries on all the channels (which is why I want to get it, and the fact that I ran out of inputs on the Tascam XS-4. Its got two channels, and session input, so my options are limited, I have 2x turntable, 2x CD and 1x laptop which justifies the 4-channels. anyway.) So what are your opinions on it? (i'm only mixing w/it. When I skratch, i'll be using the Tascam s-4)
  12. You cant really go wrong w/ Otrtophons. Pickering is the European brother of Stanton Magnetics, Inc. If you decide to take them on the road, you wont have that many problems w/ ortophons. I'm using a Numark Wax-rider at the moment, plan to upgrade to something better though. the wax-rider is a good cart though, it just bears the Numark name and all the negitivity of the numark name. I payed only 20.00 for it, so i got it without having to think it over for more than about 2 min.
  13. The instant I have 2000 USD, I'm getting two. I like the no needle to f-ckup or no going to Denver to get records. the 300 extra is going to get a TASCAM X-15.

    M447

for me, i usually place the needle down fairly carefully, its kinda rare for me to drop the needle to the side, or onto the record. i might drop it if i'm in a hurry 'cause i didnt cue-up the record in time, with 10 sec. left in the current track for example.
