Bp_918
So u have a stanton str8-80 that I got off eBay for $20. Definitely worth the money but it has no torque. My pt01 has more torque. Any suggestions on how to improve the torque?
Backtrack
It should have the same torque as a Technics (slightly less). If its worse than that maybe the stator is damaged. But if not broken I would say that modding torque on any turntable has never been a success story so just leave it be. Guest Symatic
I'd guess the torq is down to the strength of the motor, i don't think its something you can improve really... without replacing the motor, which is probably unique to that turntable and not interchangeable. The higher end stantons are a different design all together....I'd get a different deck, vestax pdx models are available 2nd hand for £100-£150 normally... One thing you could try is getting Slip Sheets from dr susuki, theyll reduce the friction of the slip mat, maybe youll get away with that....A reall chap way of doing it (not as good) is to jse grease proof paper. You can ask the people in Subway for spare sheets
Guest rasteri
Sometimes the torque on old tables can be improved by taking the spindle apart and lubing it. probably with a str8-80 you already have all you're gonna get though.
