GRAND FINAL ROUND 2 INFO & BEAT

Recommended Posts

Here's the beat and info for round 2 of the grand final.

Grand final format: -

The grand final will take place over 3 rounds that are spread 2-3 weeks apart. If the same DJ wins the first 2 rounds, the battle is over. The judging panel will consist of the same 5-man team that judged rounds 2 and 3, as well as the 6 extra guest judges. The rules for recording and submitting videos are exactly the same as they were in the previous rounds.

Grand final round 2 beat: -

DV Battle Grand Final Beat 2.mp3

The DJs may cut over the full length of this beat, but please do not edit the beat to make it longer. If you submit a video where you've edited the beat and you're cutting for longer than 91 seconds, you will be asked to cut your video down. DJs must cut over the beat at its stock speed, so no pitching it up or down.

Deadline: -

The deadline for round 2 of the grand final is Sunday December 1st at 11 PM UK time. That gives you 2 weeks from today. As the grand final is the best of 3 rounds, I might as well post this while the round 1 judging is still in progress.

Dropping out/extensions: -

An extension will be given in any of the final rounds, but only under exceptional circumstances and only if both DJs agree to it. An example of "exceptional circumstances" would be one of the DJs falling ill or having their decks stolen - please don't ask for an extension because you forgot about the battle or you left it to the last minute, haha. If a DJ drops out in this round, the battle is over and they will be the runner up, with the other DJ being the winner.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a reminder of the prizes that are up for grabs in the final: -

Winner: -

A DIF-1S mixer from DJ-Tech (check it out, HERE)

A t-shirt and snapback from the folks at AnyForty (check out their shop, HERE)

A hoody, t-shirt, mug and bag from the Super Scratch Sunday Shop

Doubles of Ritchie Ruftone's battle record, "Braveheart Breaks" (already sent out as long as you've given me your address)

Runner up: -

A Pro X Fade courtesy of Mike from the IDA

Doubles of Ritchie Ruftone's battle record, "Braveheart Breaks" (already sent out as long as you've given me your address)

Big thanks to all of our sponsors and to the people who helped me to secure prizes! If you have a minute, please have a click through to the sponsor's sites and have a browse around. You might find something you like on there!

thats not what i wanna hear at all thats why i like the choice of the final round 2 beat its a shame that the last round had a wanky souless 1962 electro beat ( there,s plenty of them on youtube too =) that didnt compliment either dj,s style in fact all the beats in this battle have been shit apart from the next one sick dj,s cutting over shit beats its a shame thats probably why no one wants to judge this battle any more ;)

There's been a range of different beats in this, in terms of style and tempo. They were specifically chosen so that the DJs wouldn't always be in their comfort zone. The electro beat from the last round came out in 2009, but maybe I should have given them one of the electro beats off an old Dirtstyle record, as nobody has ever heard DJs cut over those before, right?

As for nobody wanting to judge the battle, I booted Vekked off the judging panel, so it's only Shortkut that I haven't heard from, and I haven't heard from him at all, so it's not like he dropped out - he never even "dropped in". EDIT - He's literally just emailed me now and his vote has been added to the other thread, so there hasn't been one judge that hasn't voted or has quit the judging panel.

If you don't like the format of this battle, feel free to organise your own on your own forum.

lol use whatever shit electro beat you like its your battle i cant stand dirt style myself ,,,,i like wanky souless dark looper style beats as you called them not my words,,,,,for example the silk kuts looper beat that chin cuts over in round one that was sick but he chose that him self,or the beat wsq cuts over in round one in fact all of the round one beats i liked,,,,,,funny thing is most of the best scratch dj,s around today all cut over those loopers so they cant be that wank,,,,,,i get the bit about useing a range of different beats to test the competitors but they could of been better tbf,,,,,,,and i never once slated this battle i dont know where you get it from

Yeah man, typing "nice choice of beat (for a change) lol" is a great compliment.

As for Jeff "sticking up for his click member", how is he doing that? By saying that he doesn't like the beat that I chose? lol.

I didn't just want to hand the DJs beats for each round that they've cut over dozens of times already. That's why I gave them this: -

Round 1 = DJs chose their own beats

Round 2 = slow, chilled

Round 3 = mid-tempo, a bit more aggressive

Round 4 = fast electro

Round 5 = classic, well known scratch beat

Round 6 = you'll hear that when I post it (if the battle goes to round 6)

If you think it would have been better if I had given them well known beats that they're really comfortable with in every single round, that's fine - I disagree - but whether someone likes an individual beat or not is totally a matter of opinion, so your first comment was unnecessary, your comment about the judging was untrue, and your comment about me being paranoid was just silly.

i rekon your the type of person who could pick a fight in a empty room lol,,,,,talk about being difficult,,,,, just simply said nice choice of beat wtf is wrong with that ,thats my opinion...and then you accuse me of likeing "dark souless looper style beats " so i think my comment about you being paranoid wasnt silly ,,,,and i meant no disrespect to jeff waxdestroyer either ,,,,,,,light en up abit ill compliment you on your hair next time then because that has alot to do with scratching and battle beats lol

I'm not picking a fight just for the sake of it.

Saying "nice choice of beat (for a change) lol" is like saying to your missus "nice to see you wearing a dress that looks good for a change, lol" and expecting her to not think you're an absolute tit. ;)
