The porn filtering in the UK is worse than I thought

Web users in the UK will be banned from accessing websites portraying a range of nonconventional sexual acts, under a little discussed clause to a government bill currently going through parliament.

The proposal, part of the digital economy bill, would force internet service providers to block sites hosting content that would not be certified for commercial DVD sale by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

In order to comply with the censorship rules, many mainstream adult websites would have to render whole sections inaccessible to UK audiences. That is despite the acts shown being legal for consenting over-16s to perform and for adults in almost all other liberal countries to film, distribute and watch.

Nanny state bullshit. I warned you though!

I should add that it only criminalises the selling of porn, we aren't going to jail for the pissing videos we all undoubtedly enjoy watching (right?)

EDIT : Also the bill is arguably discriminatory, as several of the "nonconventional" acts are considered mainstream in the gay scene.

I warned you though!

Eh? Are you suggesting that if we'd heeded your warning, this wouldn't have happened?! I fear this was in hands more important than the wankers of DV :d

Still... without being a massive racialist, my browser reckons I'm in Germany so I'm pretty much only limited (by personal choice) to what doesn't make me physically sick!

No, but....

A. There were people on DV defending this kind of censorship.

B. I saw several DV members sharing a petition on Facebook to stop Donald Trump from entering the UK based on his "hate speech", while I didn't see a single person posting about the UK government deciding for us what we can and can't view on the web.

Shit is fucked up.

You think I'm going to complain about not being able to watch pornography on the same site my workmates and gran use?
