Jam Burglar
I made this as a way to trick normal people into listening to turntablism ... but then things got out of hand. I counted and it's over 100 records in an hour. I made a youtube video for the first 3 minutes or so, showing all the records I used for that part, so you can sort of see how it's put together. You can download the whole hour-long mix at https://www.tablist.net/audio/jbs-jockin-80s (shout for Honna for hosting audio for djs.) Here's the video for the intro ... https://youtu.be/WjziRqW9HoM
Guest petesasqwax
Dude, I have a general distaste for a vast amount of 80s shit and even I dig this shit! This is dope man - plus the video is a great idea. Propers!
Guest petesasqwax
For anyone having issues downloading rather than just streaming, clicking to open that shit in another window fixed handled that B.I. for me.

Gizmo and I used to have this conversation about DJs using obscure songs nobody knows, so listeners can't really tell what the DJ is "doing". Presumably, if you use songs and samples people know then they can be like "okay, I hear what he's doing there". At it's core, this mix is that concept in practice. joeClockwork
You legend! I'm just about to go on holiday and this is just what I need for the flight. How long did it take you to make this?

That makes 100% sense and was exactly the reason that I did this (a very long time ago): https://waxfactoryrecords.bandcamp.com/track/working-on-my-mullet-faster-than-a-speeding-mullet-mix-instrumental
Jam Burglar
You legend! I'm just about to go on holiday and this is just what I need for the flight. How long did it take you to make this? Years, in fact, I feel like I've been working on it since the '80s! I laid the skeleton down over 5 years ago and would come back every few months and work on it. It's super dense so you should be able to listen more than once and still find new things. I "hid" all sorts of stuff in there. There's lots of stereo stuff going on in there so it should be nice in your headphones.

Jam Burglar
Thanks! I'm just glad I can finally move on to my 1920s mix next. It's going to dudes singing into megaphones and shit like that.

It's going to dudes singing into megaphones and shit like that. lol that pic makes me think of Boardwalk Empires. It is mindblowing that such horrible music was considered entertainment. At least in the white clubs. Shit was largely awful.
