How to get around the UK's censorship of the web using Opera Turbo

The law in the UK regarding censorship of the web is horribly biased in favour of large media companies. A media company can go to court to apply for a court order to block a particular domain and if it is ruled that the site at that domain exists largely to facilitate copyright infringement, all major UK ISPs will be forced to block it via a court order. However, once a site is blocked, if a domain name changes, the court order automatically covers that, so many domains are blocked without media companies having to go back to court again. The whole process is complete fucking bollocks.

Here's an example of a domain that's currently blocked: -

This one has only recently been blocked, so your ISP might not have got around to blocking it yet, but on Virgin Media if you click that link you will get this: -

If you use version 12.16 of Opera web browser (or you install it as a second browser just to use for this purpose), there is a feature built into it that easily allows you to get around this sort of web censorship. All you need to do is turn on Opera Turbo: -

Once it's enabled, visit the link of your "banned" site and it will work fine: -

Job done.

Yeah, that's basically the same method. Opera Turbo is designed to speed up web browsing on slow networks by compressing the content on web pages (images, for example), but it works by routing your traffic through Opera's servers that are hosted outside the UK, which is why it also works as a way of accessing blocked sites.
