Serato 7" Control Vinyl

Homemade of course - because the wankers at Rane are taking far to long to produce these.

Ok so here's some diagrams to help you out.

First take lots of little bits of timecoded CV01/02 vinyl and some good house hold glue...

or a pan with some watered down baked bean juice will do (preferably Heinz)

Or

Take a CV01/02 and follow the illustrations below...

and there you have it a handy 7" inch control vinyl!

Thanks to mrdee for helping!!

you certainly could use normal wax but you know

your fave skrizzatch samples are gonna be on the

bit you cut off :)

these were done solely for a 2 x handytrax setup

with pitch on the handytrax you can mix or scratch

we're trying to get a totally battery operated serato setup

Hi All,

I've just joined this forum and desperately need some 7" Serato control vinyl.

I'm fully prepared to cut down some 12" Serato control vinyl as featured in this thread.

All I really need to know is what the final cut was done with.

Was it really the tin opener pictured?

I realise this thread is nearly 8 years old now.....I'm really hoping BFresh can give me some hints, tips and guidance.

Cheers Steve....I really appreciate that.

I've just got hold of a pair of Vestax Handytrax and am desperate to get my Serato hooked up to them.

I can't get over how good the cut down control vinyl look!!!

I have my scissors at the ready but need to know if there is a special trick to that perfect finish.

Speak soon

Hey suitstusir tbh mate I don't use the 7 inchers anymore. I bought some 10" Serato control vinyl as they are now available with the later timecode and are suited perfectly to the handytrax. Pros: more track time than a 7", no wobble when cutting (unlike a 12") and most importantly no claw hand from cutting them out! Cons: none really :d

If you do decide to get your claw on and cut them with scissors just go at them slowly hence the many pieces of wax shown above.

Hope this helps man.

Wow!!! What a swift response!!!

Cheers for getting back to me so swiftly.

Sounds like 10" is the way to go then.....I may get my claw hand on at some point purely for novelty value.

I must know though.....did you use the tin opener at all when you made yours?

I've been practicing over the last couple of days on some old throwaway vinyl I've got and tried the tin opener technique with not much success. lol

I was even going to ask you what brand of tin opener you used. Lol
